The web straddles national boundaries. It is the place where the “great conversation” takes place; the conversation about how we as world citizens work and grow together. But it is hard today to even tip somebody a dollar across international boundaries for work that you like. It is also hard to see what the best content is - based on how much attention a given person has gotten in real-world terms other than by upvotes which can be faked. In this new world, a world that is increasingly online, using a web that is increasingly more vibrant, richer and engaging, we need ways to signal to each other clearly - with true signals - that cannot be forged, that show real indications of interest. What we think of as the future web is more than just pretty graphics - it is an intersection of three key requirements: 1) better tools 2) identity and 3) money. For us to have the beautiful hyper futures we imagine; with immersive 3d graphics, where content creators who want to make money go to the web first rather than walled gardens - we need to fix all three of these.
